still haven't got it back. wank.
update, as of just now I do. I'd left it at hammersmith. Closest to me. Great.
Anyway, had a lovely cycle ride home in the dark, making pussy-licking/wanking gesturesat the old perverts on askew road that yelled after me.
A couple of nights ago, in a hazy panicky (oh-god-i'm-late-and-drunk) freak out I parked my bike somewhere in london in order to get the piccadilly line. I do not remember which piccadilly line tube stop I got on at. The usual suspects are normally Hammersmith, Leicester square, Covent Garden, Holborn or if I've been a total wanker and gone up to north east for the jokes of it, Seven Sisters on the Victoria line. Now I have to go find my bike. I'm not happy about this and the fact I have only myself to blame for what will be an expensive bike-hunt is making me even more angry.
HOWEVER. There is a lot that's cool about bikes - not mine, mine has 3 gears, the highest of which is literally like the 2nd gear on most children's cycles. My bike also has a basket that's bent out of shape and a stand that is so wonky it makes a tuneful strumming noise as it plucks the spokes of my back wheel when I go faster than jogging speed.
But back to the cool stuff. Going down hills. The best part about living at the top of Castle hill, other than proximity to both Tandoori palace and the thriving squirrel colony, is going down the hill super fast, with all my books and laptop and chunky heavy stuff in the basket to tug me down even faster. I think I'm so cool when I'm doing that, but obvs I just look like a poodle somebody's pointing a hairdryer at.
Erik Lundberg is one of those crazy/cool people that spends nuff money on skate equipment so he can ride super fast down hills and possibly fall to his death. BUT, mostly he doesn't fall off, and mostly he just has a GREAT TIME. Here's a dope video by Kenny Luby documenting a day in the life of Lundberg as he attempts to not "lose it" on a hill.
Today I had the loveliest of days with Jen and her parents in and around Kensington. A BEAUTIFUL lunch and cocktails, that were still yum despite the raw hanging that was happening.
Speaking of which - John Rodnitsky. If you are out there, call me. As all of last night's holborn macdonalds diners know, I think you are "SOOOOO FIT".
I was just organising my useless backups from years and years ago and I found my yearbook page for Chiswick.
I miss that common room, the toasties, secretly disliking Miss Lee, hiding from chemistry in the computer rooms and watching clique politics. AND FAISAL'S RED HAIR.
ohhh, chiswickkkk...
Me and Larry have been bumming the 90's as of late. I wish I had a pair of brothel creepers, or a pvc mini dress and a bad weave with candy coloured stripes in it. And LIP LINER.
The 90's was so great.
Anyway, the more I google images for 90s fashion, or watch films like 'But, I'm a Cheerleader!' (GREAT), the more I fall back in love with bright colours. I've had a little break from them for the past few months, black and grey are easier and don't show food stains as badly. Yeah, yeah, I'm gross. Whatever.
My heart leapt when I stumbled on Takun William's art focussing on modern pop icons... BRIGHT, ANGULAR, CLASHING, EVERYTHING I WANT. And unlike most pop art I fall for, I've been alive while most of the icons featured were as well. Don't judge me, but that shit is exciting.. Check out his tumblr, it's wonnnderful..
and sometimes when i'm perving over editorials i lick the models i want to lick in real life.
by the way - that's a total joke, i don't do that. I like hoarding magazines too much. Its just my sense of humour has taken a turn for the worse and I thought it would be funny to type that and now I've typed too much to use the backspace button.
Whatevs.
Stussy x Fred Perry, how odd you might say, how british, how americana, how are they merging?
I don't entirely know, but I like these photos, the location looks like it could either be a rutty english pub or some kind of underground american bar. And the models are fit.
HOT UGH HOT.
Also, don't forget to look at the Japan post - http://theshinybaz.blogspot.com/2011/03/japan.html
Donate some money, just cos its not popping up on bbc news as often doesn't mean its all fixed, like my sweet old granny thought.
I don't really have much to say about this video, other than it is absolutely beautiful - the closing shot of only Muse's face illuminated in the dark is just, uuugh, makes me shudder.

While bumbling about on the internet I found this amazing project by student Lisa Reinermann. Reinermann put together this alphabet of photographs during her degree at the University of Duisburg-Essen, it makes me feel shite about my lack of creativity at Cam. Apparently, the project began in Barcelona with the letter Q, and once she'd found that, the rest followed. I love the scary shapes of the letters and the optimistic blue skies that fill them. Apparently you can buy a book of the photos, but I'm not sure where from... Either way Enjooyoooyyy!
One of the most beautifully lit editorial's I've come across for a long time. From Love#5, shot by Willy Vandeperre and styled by Olivier Rizzo.

ME: I like lots of things but its shit to list that here. Read my blog, you'll get me eventually. I don't even know why this part of the blog exists, just cos its a template, and I dont know how to get rid of it. Might as well fill it with something
I don't update this blog as much as I should, apologies. I'm a 20 year old student living in London/Cambridge depending on the dates. I've just finished a difficult two years studying Japanese, and while I loved my culture/essay subjects, the grammar got to me, and I'm starting my final two years in History of Art in October! VERY exciting. This blog is both a diary for me and a collection of things within art, fashion and music that I find interesting.
